Family Fun Day & Blank Check Dedications

The Jubilee Family Shrine had their annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, May 31, 2009. We were blessed to have a beautiful sunny day. The day started at noon with a overwhelming supply of yummies for a potluck lunch. Children of all ages were able to have fun playing volleyball and simple childrens games outside. Afterwards Fr. Dieter Haas gave a short talk and closed with benediction.

In the afternoon , three Families from the Twin Cities deepened their Covenant by making a blank check dedication to our Blessed Mother .

Prayer for the 18th

Dear Schoenstatt Family and friends,

A new year also brings new life. We also want to bring new life to our families by renewing our consecration to the Blessed Mother in our Shrine and home shrines.
Throughout the year Our Mother Thrice Admirable protects and guides us and our loved ones. In a time when ordinary family life is threatened, we may want to give our families again and again to the one person who is ready to protect them.
Ever since October 18, 1914 the Mother Thrice Admirable has granted our world graces in abundance. That is why we mark the 18th of the month as a special day for each Schoenstatt member. It is a day in which our Mother and Queen is especially close to us and wants to help us in our every need.
How can we make the 18th of the month special for our families? On the reverse of this brochure is a prayer for this day. You could find the right time for your family to pray this prayer together every 18th. Other ways to make the 18th special could be to treat the family with a special meal or dessert and spend some family time together. Give your children the opportunity to experience the special quality of this day. Make this a FAMILY day!

Let us spiritually unite with all Schoenstatt members in heaven and on earth in the shrine to remember our founding day, October 18, 1914.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for sending Mary to us to make a covenant of love that would give birth to the Schoenstatt Shrine as a source of grace for our world and time. We thank Father Kentenich for the openness to hear the invitation and the daring to say “yes.”

Dear Mother Thrice Admirable, we present to you the prayers and sacrifices that we have offered during the past month as contributions to the capital of grace. Use these signs of our love as a key to release a stream of grace from our Jubilee Family Shrine for our families, friends, and diocese.

4th Annual Marriage Renewal

THE MYSTICAL BODY HAS MANY FACES.......

For the 4th year, assisted by Fr. Randal Kasel, couples gathered to renew their wedding vows.

This year again at St. Charles, Bayport Mn.

This year the day chosen was providentially World Marriage Day.

The celebration began with Adoration, a litany for purity to St. Philomena, and Benediction.

In the presence of our dear Lord, and our beloved MTA, we then renewed our marriage vows and the Covenant of Love.

The couples then shared a private spaghetti dinner, complete with carrot cake.

The children also had a special meal together, followed with games and sing along.

The family day was truly a blessing for all !

Founding Day Celebration Sunday Nov. 2nd.

Approximately 80 people attended the celebration in Sleepy Eye Mn. at the Jubilee Family Shrine.

First we gathered together , for Holy mass. Followed by a delicious lunch, prepared with loving hands.

After lunch, Fr. Dieter announced the new Schoenstatt motto

"Child be confident, Father leads!"

He added some insights and reflections, for living out the motto in our daily lives.
Thank you Fr. Dieter.

Next, the girls youth give a presentation of their trip to world youth day in Australia.
This was a great way for them to share their experience with our
Holy Father Benedict XVI with us.
Thank you ladies for a great job.

The day ended with Benediction in the shrine. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day
and many graces.

2008 Summer Review

The Bauer Family

On April 26th, 2008, Fr. John Bauer, was ordained to the Holy Priesthood for the St. Paul dioceses. As a young man, Fr. John Bauer belonged to a Schoenstatt group with Fr. Jonathan Niehaus. The MTA picture on his ordination invitation points to his lasting attachment to our Mother Thrice Admirable. God bless you Fr. John!

Fr. Tom's First Mass

Another priest associated with Schoenstatt, Fr. Tom Niehaus, was ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 28th, 2008 for the Wynona diocese. As a youth, Fr. Tom attended Schoenstatt camps in Minnesota with Fr. Gerald Langsch. His zeal for God and his strong love for the Blessed Mother are overwhelming!

"Behold Your Son"

On May 13th, heaven touched earth as the Blessed Mother erected her throne of grace in the home shrine of Fr. Kasel, at his rectory at St. Charles in Bayport. Fr. Kasel works with the Minnesota Schoenstatt Movement, leading groups, retreats and homeshrine blessings. His homeshrine name is, “Behold Your Son”. Let us lift him up in prayer by praying his homeshrine name.

May Crowning

Gathering at the shrine, children of all ages (age 1 to age 82) brought their May Blossoms to crown our Mother and Queen on May 26th, 2008. As a special crowning gift, the Pagnotta Family sealed their Covenant of Love, and began their new journey with our Mother and Queen! Congratulations Steve, Cathie, and family! Fr. Kasel celebrated the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the Jubilee Family Shrine. The shrine was overflowing with people and graces! On their return journey, the pilgrims visited the grave of Most Reverend Alphonse J. Schladweiler, at the New Ulm cemetery. Bishop Schladweiler was responsible for inviting the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary to Minnesota! God rest his soul!

July 4th Weekend

From July 3rd to July 5th, a van-full of Schoenstatt young men from Wisconsin as well as a hand-full from Minnesota, journeyed to Isanti, by invitation, to the Carlson’s house. Upon their arrival, they joined a sizable group of Minnesotan Schoenstatt families in a going away party for Fr. Mark Niehaus, who had been the Schoenstatt Boys Moderator in the Midwest for the past few years, and who was about to start a 3 year assignment in Chile. There were a lot of things that made the party something to remember. Fr. Jonathan Niehaus, Fr. Randall Kasel, and Fr. John Bauer were there (and Fr. Mark, of course) to participate in the festivities. There was a music concert by the Schoenstatt Youth of both MN and WI. There were also a few great Frisbee games! Fr. Mark wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the party immensely! The following day, (the 4th of July!) the guys from WI and some more MN guys all got together and went canoeing on the St. Croix river with Fr. Mark. Perfect weather and the presence of the MTA among us made the day truly unforgettable! That night we went and watched fireworks and celebrated Independence Day thoroughly. The remainder of the weekend was passed easily by music, games, frisbee, soccer, and prayer. It was a great time of building community for the Schoenstatt Youth.

Two adults or three children fit comfortably in each bench seat. Single seat is $12.50. For the 3rd year, families gathered together to renew their marriage vows and the Covenant of Love with our Dear Mother Thrice Admirable.

There were two celebrations this year:

The first was during the Schoenstatt Family Sunday at St. Agnes,in St. Paul , Jan. 27th, with Fr. Kasel presiding. After renewing their vows, the couples shared a private pasta dinner, while the kids all had pizza, and viewed a video with Sr. M. Dianne , in Schuler Hall.

The second gathering took place at St. Charles, Bayport Mn. on Feb. 10th, (World Marriage day)during the Lenten Family Retreat.

Two special couples were present. Gene & Rose Deutsch had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and Jose & Beth Barriga,were married only one week. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Many reigious were present, including Fr. Francisco Rojas, Fr. Kasel, Fr. Gonzalo, a guest of Fr Kasel's from Uraguay, Deacon Gary Kasel, Sr. Miriam Lopez, & Sr M. Dianne Niehaus.

Both days were spiritually rich in graces, and all were grateful.

Lunch will be provided between 12:45 - 2pm, for $2 a plate.
High school groups begin at 1pm, with other age groups ages 5
and up beginning at 2pm.The girls’ groups will be led by Sr. M.
Deanne Niehaus, and boys’ groups will be led by Steve and Philip
Carlson. There will be gym time for the boys between 2-4pm, and
Scottish country dancing for the girls taught by Andrew and Theresa
Livingston. All youth must have a signed permission slip to participate
in youth activities. From 2-4pm, the adults will meet in Schuler hall
for meetings on the home shrine and covenant of love preparation
(nursery will be provided for little children). We will end the day with

Holy Trinity (South St. Paul), Faribault, Glencoe, Coon Rapids, Andover, St. Agnes(St. Paul), St. Charles Borromeo (St. Anthony), Isanti, St. Michael’s Parish (West St. Paul), St. Cloud, Roseville, Blue Earth, Rochester, Sleepy Eye, New Prague, & Burnsville, Eagan, and Savage.

The areas we have boys groups are:

Dedication of the Cor Mariae Shrine in Nebraska

You are invited to join us in Nebraska for the dedication of the Cor Mariae (Heart of Mary) Shrine which will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2007.

We will do our best to get you a ride to Nebraska (cost of gasoline will be divided among passengers). We wil leave on Friday afternoon and begin the return trip on Sunday morning.

A single room in a hotel will cost approximately $104.00, 2 persons sharing a room : $52.00, 3 persons in a room: $35.00, 4 persons in a room: $26.00.

There is a possibility of staying with a host family in Nebraska. Please, let us know if you are interested in this option.

Dear Schoenstatt Families of Minnesota,

We are happy to announce two very special events coming in August.

Sister M. Thomasine Treese will be visiting Minnesota. She is a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary, living in Rome, and works for the Vatican Diplomatic Corp. She is the postulator for the process of beatification of Sister Emilie Engel (a Schoenstatt Sister of Mary 1893-1955) and also helps with Father Joseph Kentenich’s cause. Sister Thomasine will also share her insights and knowledge of the beatification process in general.

2007 Memorial Day Pilgrimage

Our trip to the Jubilee Family shrine on Memorial Day was truly a blessed family day. As we traveled by bus, Deacon John Bauer led us in singing religious and patriotic songs. We then prayed the Divine Office prayers and the rosary. It was great to see so many Roman collars on the bus! (See photos)

The Schoenstatt Sisters warmly welcomed us by having a hot meal of roast beef sandwiches ready for us when we arrived. After everyone had their fill, we headed outdoors for an afternoon of sunshine, laughter, and softball. Although the softball game was intended to be a heated match between adults and teens, there were too few players to form a game in this configuration. We simply choose teams in a simple way, and had fun. One of the game highlights was Fr. Kasel’s mile high homerun.

Fr. Kasel and Fr. Yanta then offered a votive mass to the Holy Spirit assisted by Deacon John Bauer and Deacon Gary Kasel. The presence of so many religious bedecked in red stoles and vestments was breathtaking. Many graces were received. Father Kasel reminded us in his homily to ask for special gifts from the Holy Spirit for our families and then to share them with others.

We ended the day with Benediction in the shrine and our renewal of the Covenant of Love. The Holy Spirit was very active as the winds blew in and around the shrine, especially on the little children making piles of rocks near the door of the shine. Before boarding the bus, the Sisters treated us with a delicious carrot cake made especially for Fr. Kasel on his 2nd anniversary as a priest.

Eighty people gathered for the second annual May Crowning at Schoenstatt North (Isanti, MN). Special guests of the day were Sr. Miriam Lopez, Fr. Randal Kasel, newly ordained Deacons, Gary Kasel and John Bauer, as well as seminarian Jordan Bauer, who was home from his studies in Rome. Their presence was truly a sign of the title under which we crowned the MTA last year: Queen of Vocations for the New Holy Springtime. Rev. Deacon Gary Kasel made his covenant of love along with his brother, Fr. Randal Kasel on July 11th, 2006, in Sleepy Eye MN. Rev. Deacon John Bauer and seminarian Jordan Bauer made their covenant of love in the Maria Hilf Chapel at St. Agnes Church on May 16th, 1998 (see picture in Fr. Jonathan's book Omne Regnum pg. 212). This year amidst sunshine, blossoms, children laughing, and everyone singing and praying, Sara Carlson crowned our dear MTA Queen of Mercy. We are hopeful for a year filled with the merciful love of our Mother as she intercedes before the throne of God for her beloved Schoenstatt family.

Seven novices of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary celebrated their

reception into the community in Waukesha, WI: Sr. Leah Marie,

Sr. M. Erica, Sr. Mary Kate, Sr. Anitza Maria, Sr. Rosemary,

Sr. Therese Marie, Sr. Andre Maria. In this first step at the

beginning of the two-year novitiate, the novice receives the

dress of a Sister of Mary and confirms her decision to live a

consecrated life and serve the Schoenstatt mission. We

pray for them and with them as they continue living in

the Father's divine plan!

Schoenstatt Girls Jubilee! On fire with jubilee spirit, Schoenstatt Youth lead the way to 2014!

This summer the Schoenstatt Girls' Youth Branch is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of their existence worldwide(Germany, 1931),

as well as their 50th Anniversary in the USA (Wisconsin, 1956).

About 55 girls got together at the Jubilee Family Shrine last month to CELEBRATE this monumental event. The day began with breakfast with Bishop Neinsdedt of the New Ulm Diocese who gave a brief yet powerful talk on purity for us girls and blessed the girls' room shrine in the retreat center. The rest of the day was filled to the brim with other holy and enjoyable happenings including Holy Mass, games, a rosary procession, prayer, singing, and lots of fun!

Another - even larger - celebration will take place in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Sunday, July 30, 2006, 2 pm beginning with Holy Mass and followed by a program and refreshments. All Schoenstatt Girls Youth, former and present, along with family and friends are invited to join us for this great jubilee!

Queen of Vocations for the New Holy Springtime!

May 13, 2006: Cloudy and rainy outside – sunny inside (in the pole barn!). Approximately eighty people gathered on the grounds of “Schoenstatt North” in Isanti, MN to share in a day of fun and festivities to crown the Blessed Mother as Queen of Vocations for the New Holy Springtime. As can be surmised from this title, praying for vocations was the focus of the day. The youth and young-at-heart- adults engaged in competitive games of volleyball in between rain showers,

while the others visited and roamed the acreage. After a picnic lunch we congregated in the pole barn. Between mysteries of the rosary, Sr. M. Jennifer serenaded the Blessed Mother with meditations on the joyful mysteries; and then – led by Father Kasel – we all offered special prayers of petition for holy families, the foundation of holy vocations. Amidst the song of Marian hymns, the children processed behind the image of the MTA. After she was crowned, each child presented the Queen with flowers. To end the day, the sun peeked from behind the clouds; it seemed as if this were a sign that the Queen accepted our prayers. We are sure that she smiled on her Schoenstatt Family that day!

Lenten Family Day

On April 2, 2006, about 175 people attended the Lenten Family Day at St. Agnes Church in St. Paul. Deb Bauer gave a powerful testimony of her husband’s heroic battle with cancer until his death a few years ago. Dan Bauer had led Schoenstatt boys’ groups at his home for several years and is mentioned in Father Jonathan Niehaus’s book, Omne Regnum. He died surrounded by his family in front of their home shrine, Ora Pro Nobis Deum. Father Randal Kasel (soon to be stationed at St. Agnes Church) gave a talk on another suffering soul who died of cancer only last year: Jennifer Goossens. Jennifer was a loving wife and mother of five daughters. She and her husband were part of the delegation who first introduced Schoenstatt into the Archdiocese. Following the testimonies, we viewed a PowerPoint presentation on suffering, showing various photos of the lives of these two “Schoenstatt heroes”. Afterwards we prayed the Stations of the Cross and had benediction of the Blessed Sacrament with Father Robert Altier and renewed our covenant of love with our MTA. We finished the day with a pot luck dinner. The day was richly blessed by the One on the Cross.
